Greater Noida: The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has issued a notice to NTPC plant at Dadri for allegedly causing air pollution due to ash spreading in the area from the ash mound causing respiratory problems for the residents of nearby villages.
The NTPC has marked 500 acres of land for the ash mound out of which 200 acres of land has been used at the present. Around 10 per cent of the area is open while the rest of area has been covered with trees.
"Following a complaint received through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), an inspection was conducted at the NTPC plant upon which we found that the ash from the open area of the ash mound is flowing with the air in nearby Muthiyana village having a population of around 1000 people," said an official from UPPCB.
"We have issued a notice to the NTPC directing them to plant trees in the open area and conduct proper sprinkling of water over the ash mound so that the ash settle down at ash mound only and do not flow with the air," the official added.
